GOLF DAY REPORT

Golfers gathered at the Hatfield London Country Club on Wednesday 20th July 2005. The tournament was won by Kampala 3 made up of Janak Patel (Captain), Sanjay Patel, Bijal Patel and Rajeep Patel. Second were Dar Es Salaam 2 made captained by Woody Alibhai and team members Balwant Patel, Ramesh Majithia and Dilip Shah. Indian Yankees came third captained by Vikas Verma and team members Pran Sood, Ashwin Gupta and Jay Rathod. The longest drive was taken by Vijay Walia at hole no. 6 and Jack Bhad at hole no. 12. Nearest the pin were taken by Madhu Shah at hole no.9 and Baldev Bahra at hole no. 15.

The friends of Kenya cricket later retired to the Award Winning Brilliant Restaurant in Southall, for a well deserved Kenyan style dinner. The Guest Speaker was Mr. Subhash Modi, well known Kenyan umpire, Africa Representative of the International Cricket Council Associates & Affiliates Umpire Panel and Public Relations Officer of Kenya Cricket Umpirers & Scorers Association (KCUSA). He was warmly welcomed and appreciated the hospitality offered to him.

Mr. Modi, who was in the UK after returning from match duties at the ICC Trophy in Ireland, presented KCUSA ties to the board of Friends of Kenya Cricket UK and the Kenyan High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Mr. Joseph Muchemi who was a Guest of Honour and attended the function with his wife.

After the prize giving ceremony, a cricket bat signed by the Kenya National Team of the 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup was auctioned together with a complete Kenya cricket TUSKER branded tracksuit.
